Below is just a glimpse of what I am hoping/praying that I accomplish this year. While there are more goals on my list, I have shared the most important ones to me. The plan is to regularly post updates....

Personal:

- Lose the last of my weight. I am aiming to lose another 10 - 15 lbs.

- I have several DIY projects (thanks to Pinterest) that I
want to complete and blog about.

Financial:

- set up our emergency fund - end result being 3 months of funds, but Dave Ramsey says baby steps, so we will start with his recommended $1000.

- Be debt free except the house.

Spiritual:

- Read the Bible in a year. If you like, you can find a great calendar to do this here.

- Be more giving, not just of money, but of my time, consistently thinking of others. I want to
live  JOY.

It was busy weekend & busy Monday but all is calm here on the first day of November.

Meal Plan & Goals Week of 10/16

Tuesday, October 18, 2011
Yup. Yup.

It is Tuesday. Evening.

I do not have my meal plan posted.

I do not have my goals for the week ready.

Not that I have to make a new list since most of my goals for last week went unmet (Is that word??)

Last week went totally crazy on me.

We started it off with my oldest injuring herself at cheerleading practice that required a trip to the urgent care...she's alright. Her ankle not so much.

Pretend that there is a picture of my beautiful twelve year old here on crutches. I can't find my adapter to my camera..yeah, this week isn't going that great either.

Oh and then I get a letter sent home from my daughter's pre-school stating that she could not return to school this week if I did not have her BMI assessed, as well as, her diabetes risk assessed.

Call me crazy, but I was not worried. Nonetheless, I took her to the doctor anyway and waited.

And waited.

And waited...Guess what...she's tall for her age.

Who knew.

Okay..Okay..back to our meal plan for the week..

Sunday - 60th birthday for my husband's aunt - yeah we ate all. day. long.

Monday - Leftovers from above party.

Tuedasy - Clean out the freezer, fridge and pantry.

Wednesday - Pork Loin, mashed potatoes, corn & salad

Thursday - Grilled hamburgers, homemade french fries, pasta salad

Friday - Homemade Pizza using my tried and true pizza dough recipe

Saturday - Unsure at the moment, tentatively have plans to be out, but that could change. If it does, probably spaghetti, homemade bread & salad.

As far as my goals for the week, why not just re-read them here. Sad to say, but they are almost the same, I completely finished ONE, while others I worked on but did not complete.

Oh and one more thing...SOMEONE STOLE MY SUNDAY PAPER!! BOOOOOOO!! I still cannot believe it, I was so sad. The one Sunday that I did not pick me up an extra paper too.

I am praying for a calmer week...we'll see.

Setting Goals: Week of 10/09

Monday, October 10, 2011

With school in full force, volunteer duties, dentist appointments, doctor appointments, practices, Scout meetings, etc. life has and will continue to be busy.

In the past I have had great success accomplishing what I need/want to do for the week by writing them down.

Why I ever stopped then, you ask?

I have no idea!

In hopes of having a more productive week, I decided to share my goals for the week. Here goes...

Personal:
- Go to gym (or exercise in some way) 3x's.
- Finish reading (and then let go of) one of the many books I have started.

Family:
- Resume evening devotions with the kids

Homemaking:
- Bake ahead, ie bread, pizza dough, dinner rolls, etc.
- Organize cabinet in bathroom

Income Supplementing:
- List fall/winter clothes on Ebay

Miscellaneous:
- Send out "thinking of you" cards

I have other things I would love to accomplish, but these are on the top of the list!

Having a Purpose....

Friday, September 2, 2011

Proverbs 29:18 (KJV) states "Where there is no vision, the people perish...."

While I know that this scripture is not referring to money, I can't help but think about this verse when I think of budgeting and saving.

As with any task in life there has to be a goal, a finish line, a purpose.

Failing to do so can make it difficult to even get the task started and if you can get started, it is often difficult to stay motivated.

For some saving comes easy. (My nine year old is awesome at it, it must skip a generation or something.)

For some not so much.

I am in the "not so much" category.

I hope that through this blog I can share what I learn and learn what others will (hopefully) share, so one day I/we can be in the "saving comes easy" category!
