Thrifting and Homemade Salsa

Monday, September 19, 2011
Since becoming a one-income household we really have to think and re-think every purchase. It is worth it to stay home with the children, but sometimes when you want something, it would be nice to be able to just go to the store and buy it.

Surely, you know what I mean?

Right?

However, now when we want something or even need something we do three things, none of which involves running to WalMart.

We look on Craigslist

We look at yard sales and thrift stores.

We put word out to our family and friends so they can be on the look out at yard sales and thrift stores.

I wish we always had purchased things this way..the money we would have saved!

Our most recent want/need was a food processor. The husband loves him some good salsa and has been wanting to make it himself, but we did not have a food processor.

So the search began.

And the search ended on Saturday at a garage sale.

I purchased a Black and Decker Mini Food Processor as seen here for about $5 (it was barely used and still in the box).

Plus This

Equals SALSA!!

Food Processor: $5
Salsa Ingredients - $4

(the above ingredients will actually make us several jars of salsa)
Watching Hubby make & enjoy salsa: PRICELESS
